Burnaby, BC – November 18, 2004 – Motabei Electronics System (MES) Co. Ltd., a major application service provider in Saudi Arabia, has agreed to purchase Cdn$2.2 million in WebTech products and monthly subscriber services over a two year period from WebTech Wireless (TSXV: WEW), a leading fleet Telematics products and service provider. The agreement was made through WebTech Middle East LLC. The agreement’s second phase represents CDN$ ¼ million in products and services to be delivered by WebTech in November. The first phase of the agreement with MES has allowed WebTech to seed the Saudi Arabian fleet Telematics market with a 100-unit market development system in May 2004. “MES is a member of GAMA Group, which has vast experience in hosting and maintaining large and complex systems and services,” said Mr. Fahad Shesha, CEO of MES. “The Saudi location services and fleet Telematics market is huge. We estimate this market at over US$100 million over the next four years. Our agreement with WebTech enables MES to offer state-of-the-art fleet Telematics services that allow two-way data communication, mapping, monitoring, and other applications. We particularly like the flexibility of WebTech’s system platform. In partnership with WebTech, MES is able to utilize our extensive software development skills to develop and integrate value-added applications for the local market.” “WebTech has established an early and strong presence in the Middle East market,” comments Anwar Sukkarié, President and CEO, WebTech Wireless. “Saudi Arabia is by far the largest fleet Telematics and location-based services market in the region. MES is a natural and highly effective partner for WebTech, as they are capable of growing the market through their solid technical skill set, established infrastructure, and extensive local relationships with the government and private sectors.” MES has set up a Network Operations Center in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. Establishing a local Network Operations Centre will allow the provision of a much higher level of customer services, especially the essential service support required for critical applications in key industries, such as the oil and industrial sectors. WebTech’s products and services along with MES’ value-added applications, which are designed particularly for location-based services, create a strong fleet Telematics solution to the Middle East Region. |
